We are a  publisher of romance. We believe our authors are artists and their talent shouldn’t be censored, so our authors present high quality stories full of romance, desire, and sometimes graphic moments that are both entertaining and memorable. We are open to all genres of LGBT expression including paranormal, contemporary, historical, urban fantasy, new adult, sweet/closed door romance, and ménage.  

 

As a micro-publisher, we offer between 10 and 25 titles per year to our readers.  Keeping our house small enables us to give our authors one-on-one attention and support. 

 

At this time we are welcoming submissions from all genres of LGBT romance from both new, unpublished authors, and those already established in the field.

At this time we are welcoming submissions for all genres of LGBT+ romance from both new, unpublished authors and those already established in the field. We urge all authors submitting work to review our guidelines carefully.

Authors:

We do accept multiple submissions, however request that you advise us up front that your work is being submitted to other publishing houses along with the names of those publishing houses.  WE DO NOT ACCEPT COVER ART FROM THE AUTHOR.

 

Our response time is currently 30 days. We will respond promptly to any author who wishes to clarify any part of our submission guidelines. Emails and submissions may be sent to "submissions@paintedheartspublishing.com".

 

We are seeking only new, previously unpublished works. Authors holding exclusive rights to previously published works wishing to reprint the work with Painted Hearts Publishing will need to provide proof of exclusivity.

 

Content:

We do not accept partial manuscripts. Only completed works should be submitted for review.

 

While we encourage submissions of all genres of LGBT+ romance (Contemporary, BDSM, Cougar, Erotica, Fantasy, Paranormal, Science Fiction, Mystery, Western, Sweet/Closed Door etc.) That said, all stories should be of a romantic nature - that is contain a love story with a happy ending.

 

We will not consider works that include in any form: pedophilia; incest; rape; necrophilia, depictions or misuse of excretory functions; violence or death scenes during sex; pornography; bestiality (unless found in Fantasy/Shifter storylines); any storyline that is racist, political, or degrades a particular social group.

 

We accept works of 15K words or more.  All works, regardless of length, should contain a "story" and therefore have an identifiable beginning, storyline/plot, and ending.

 

Contract Terms:

Upon acceptance of a body of work, all authors will be provided with a contract for review. Only works covered under contract will be published by Painted Hearts Publishing.

 

Painted Hearts Publishing will provide all cover art for contracted works. We do not accept cover art provided by the author.

 

Submission of Work:

All submissions must be made electronically in .docx, .doc, or .rtf format. Your submission must be in Times New Roman 12 point font.

 

All submissions should include a cover page containing the following information:

- Author's real name

- Pen name (if being used)

- Author's mailing address and telephone number

- Author's email address

- A synopsis of the work no longer than 500 words

- Your declaration that the manuscript you are submitting is your own original piece of work and not currently under contract by any entity.

Special Submission Call:

Painted Hearts Publishing is currently accepting submissions for VALENTINE'S DAY short stories! Submissions should be between 15k and 20k words, be of a romantic nature, and contain a holiday/winter theme.

All genres of LGBTQ+ romance and all heat levels are welcome.

Payment will be a one-time flat fee of $75
